Netherlands-South African Railway Company

The Netherlands-South African Railway Company, known by its Dutch initials NZASM, was a railway company established on June 21, 1887 and based jointly in Amsterdam and Pretoria. It built and operated railway lines in the South African Republic, including the line from Pretoria to Lourenco Marques and the Randtram, reaching about 1,147 kilometers of track by 1899 with roughly 3,000 employees. The company was financed mainly by Dutch and German capital, and its operations passed to the Central South African Railways after 1902 before it was formally dissolved in 1908.
