Orient Overseas (International) Limited

Orient Overseas (International) Limited is the Hong Kong-based holding company whose principal business is Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), an integrated international container transportation, logistics and terminal company operating in about 70 countries. OOCL was founded in 1947 by C. Y. Tung as Orient Overseas Line and became the first Asian-based shipping line to carry containerized cargo across the Pacific in 1969; it was acquired by COSCO Shipping Lines in 2018 and has been part of the OCEAN Alliance, alongside COSCO, Evergreen Marine and CMA CGM, since 2017. The group has operated 59 vessels ranging from 2,992 to 21,413 TEU in capacity, and its ship OOCL Hong Kong became the world's first container ship to exceed 21,000 TEU, setting a Guinness World Record on delivery in May 2017.
