Fein (company)

C. & E. Fein GmbH is a German manufacturer of high-end power tools, founded in 1867 by brothers Wilhelm Emil Fein and Carl Fein and now headquartered in Schwäbisch Gmünd, near its original home of Stuttgart, with about 900 employees. Fein invented the hand-held electric drill in 1895 and later developed the first electric fire alarm in 1875, fire alarm systems for several German cities from 1878, and the first tin snips and jigsaw in 1927, before pioneering oscillating power tool technology in 1967 with what became the Fein Multimaster. Its current product range includes drills, oscillating multi-tools, sanders, polishers, grinders, saws, and shop vacuums.
