A. O. Smith Corporation is an American manufacturer of water heaters, boilers, and water treatment products, founded in 1874 by Charles Jeremiah Smith and headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is the largest manufacturer and marketer of water heaters in North America, and it also supplies water treatment and purification products, particularly in Asian markets. The company operates 27 locations worldwide, including manufacturing facilities in North America, India, China and the Netherlands, employs roughly 12,700 people, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as a member of the S&P 500.
