Textron Inc. is an American multi-industry industrial conglomerate headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, founded in 1923. Built into a diversified holding company by Royal Little starting in the 1940s, Textron is widely regarded as one of the first companies to adopt the conglomerate model of owning unrelated businesses under one corporate parent. Its present-day holdings include the aircraft brands Cessna and Beechcraft, combined as Textron Aviation, the helicopter and tiltrotor maker Bell, the golf cart and utility vehicle maker E-Z-GO, and Textron Systems, which supplies unmanned aircraft and other defense equipment.
