New York, Ontario and Western Railway

The New York, Ontario and Western Railway, commonly known as the O&W, was a regional American railroad founded in 1868 as the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad by Dewitt C. Littlejohn of Oswego, New York. Its main line ran from Weehawken, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from New York City, to the Lake Ontario port city of Oswego, with branch lines to Kingston, Port Jervis, Monticello, Delhi, Utica, Rome and Scranton, Pennsylvania. The last train ran in 1957, after which a United States bankruptcy judge ordered the railway liquidated, making it the first Class I American railroad to be abandoned in its entirety.
