Smiths Group plc

Smiths Group plc is a British multinational diversified engineering business headquartered in London, England, operating in more than 50 countries with about 15,000 employees. Founded in 1851 by watchmaker Samuel Smith, the company grew from a jewelry and timepiece business into automotive instrumentation and eventually a major industrial engineering firm; it now operates primarily through its John Crane rotating-equipment division and its Flex-Tek engineered-components division, following recent divestitures of its medical, detection, and interconnect businesses. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange as a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
