Texas Mexican Railway

The Texas Mexican Railway was a short line railroad chartered in Texas in 1875 as the Corpus Christi, San Diego and Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Railroad and rechartered under its later name in 1881, running between Corpus Christi and Laredo. In 1883 it built the first Mexico-United States rail bridge, across the Rio Grande to Nuevo Laredo, and it converted from narrow to standard gauge in 1902; the Mexican government owned and controlled the line from 1900 to 1982. Kansas City Southern acquired full control by 2005, and following Kansas City Southern's 2021 acquisition by Canadian Pacific Railway its lines became part of Canadian Pacific Kansas City in 2023.
