Compagnie du Chemin de Fer d'Orleans a Rouen

The Compagnie du Chemin de Fer d'Orleans a Rouen was a French railway company created in 1872 by M. Ridder to build and operate a rail line connecting Orleans and Rouen. It constructed a network of lines across northern France, including routes from Chartres to Orleans and Chartres to Dreux, with connections to Vernon and other regional centers, running a fleet of seven locomotives and forty four coaches across about 24 stations. The company was absorbed by the Chemins de fer de l'Ouest in 1891, ending its independent operation. Its main line closed in 1989, though several segments, including a preserved railway between Rouen and Saint Pierre les Elbeuf, remain in use for passenger, freight or heritage service today.
