Oswestry, Ellesmere and Whitchurch Railway

The Oswestry, Ellesmere and Whitchurch Railway was a railway company, authorized by an 1861 act of Parliament, that built a line from Whitchurch through Ellesmere to Oswestry, mostly in Shropshire with part of the route entering what is now Wrexham County Borough. It opened as a single line in 1863 and 1864, and on 25 July 1864 it amalgamated with three other railways to form the Cambrian Railways Company, which was itself absorbed into the Great Western Railway on 1 January 1922.
