JetBlue Airways

JetBlue Airways is a major United States low-cost carrier headquartered in Long Island City, New York, founded in the late 1990s by David Neeleman and beginning commercial service in 1999 from its principal base at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. JetBlue built its early reputation on offering higher service standards than typical discount carriers, including free live satellite television and leather seating, while still undercutting legacy airline fares, and it grew into one of the largest carriers serving the New York and Boston markets alongside a substantial presence in Florida and the Caribbean. The airline pursued a proposed merger with Spirit Airlines that was blocked on antitrust grounds in 2024, and it maintains a long-standing codeshare and loyalty partnership with American Airlines on transatlantic and other routes.
