Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam Airlines is the flag carrier of Vietnam, headquartered in Hanoi, with origins tracing to the country's civil aviation authority established in 1956 and reorganized into a modern commercial airline in 1993 as the country pursued broader economic reforms. Majority owned by the Vietnamese state, it joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2010 as the alliance's first member from Southeast Asia, and it operates dual hubs at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines has grown alongside Vietnam's rapidly expanding aviation market to become the country's dominant full-service carrier, facing increasing domestic competition from low-cost rivals such as VietJet Air.
