Philippine Airlines

Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier of the Philippines, founded in 1941 and headquartered in Pasay City near Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport, its main hub. It is widely cited as the oldest airline in Asia still operating under its original name, having survived the disruption of the Second World War to resume and expand commercial service across the Philippine archipelago and internationally in the postwar decades. The carrier has passed through periods of government ownership and private control, including a significant restructuring under the San Miguel Corporation and Lucio Tan business interests, and it filed for and emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States during the pandemic-era downturn of the early 2020s before continuing as the country's principal international carrier.
