Lockheed Martin Corporation is an American aerospace and defense company headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, formed by the 1995 merger of Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta, two companies each with roots in early twentieth century aviation and aerospace manufacturing. It is the world's largest defense contractor by revenue, known for fighter aircraft programs including the F-16, F-22 and F-35, and it also manufactures missiles, spacecraft and other defense and aerospace systems.
