Kamov is a Russian rotorcraft manufacturing company based in Lyubertsy. The Kamov Design Bureau, whose aircraft carry the design office prefix Ka, has become known for compact helicopters with coaxial rotors, a layout suited to naval service and high-speed operations, and its products include the Ka-27 shipborne helicopter. It was founded by Nikolai Kamov and is now part of Russian Helicopters. The coaxial arrangement, with two counter-rotating rotors on one mast, removes the need for a tail rotor and lets the helicopter work from small decks and confined spaces.
