Dornier Flugzeugwerke was a German aircraft manufacturer founded in Friedrichshafen in 1914 by Claude Dornier. Over the course of its long lifespan the company produced many designs for both the civil and military markets. It was based at Manzell, Friedrichshafen, and was owned by Daimler-Benz from 1985 and acquired by Fairchild Aircraft in 1996, before it ceased to exist as a company in 2002. Airbus is recorded as its successor.
