Viatris Inc. is an American pharmaceutical company headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, one of the largest producers of generic and off-patent branded medicines in the world. It was formed in November 2020 through the merger of Mylan N.V., itself a longstanding major generic drug manufacturer, with Upjohn, the off-patent branded medicines business that Pfizer spun off as part of the deal. Viatris manufactures and sells a very broad portfolio of generic and established branded prescription drugs across many therapeutic areas, and the company positions itself around expanding access to medicine by supplying lower-cost versions of treatments after their original patent protection has expired.
