Zaklady Farmaceutyczne Polpharma S.A. is Poland's largest pharmaceutical manufacturer, established in 1935 by Kurt Boskamp in Starogard Gdanski, where it remains headquartered. The company produces generic medicines, over-the-counter products and active pharmaceutical ingredients, and describes itself as the leader of the Polish pharmaceutical market by both volume and value of sales, with one in eight packs of medicine sold in Polish pharmacies coming from the firm. It is controlled by Jerzy Starak through the Dutch holding company Polpharma Group Holding B.V. and operates across Poland, Kazakhstan, Spain, Germany and other markets.
