IQVIA Holdings Inc. is an American healthcare data analytics and clinical research company headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, one of the largest contract research organizations in the world. It was formed in 2016 through the merger of IMS Health, a longstanding pharmaceutical market research and prescription data firm, and Quintiles, a major clinical trial services company, and it took the IQVIA name in 2017. IQVIA runs clinical trials on behalf of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and separately compiles and sells large-scale prescription, sales and real-world health data used across the drug industry for research and commercial decision-making. The company operates in more than one hundred countries and is a central intermediary in how new drugs move from development to market.
