Danaher Corporation is an American conglomerate headquartered in Washington, D.C., founded in 1969 by brothers Steven and Mitchell Rales, originally as a real estate investment trust before being remade into a diversified industrial holding company run on its own internal continuous-improvement system, the Danaher Business System. Through repeated acquisition and divestiture, most recently spinning off its industrial and environmental units as Fortive in 2016 and Veralto in 2023, Danaher has narrowed its focus to life sciences, diagnostics and biotechnology tools.
