SCOR SE is a French tier-one reinsurance company providing property and casualty as well as life reinsurance, and one of the leading reinsurers in the world. It was created in 1970 with the backing of the French government under the name Societe Commerciale de Reassurance, from which its SCOR name derives. In 2007 it became the first French listed company to adopt the Societas Europaea, or SE, legal form reflected in its current name.
