Hannover Re is a reinsurance company based in Hanover, Germany, and the third-largest reinsurance group in the world, with gross premiums of around 33 billion euros. Founded in 1966, it writes property and casualty as well as life and health reinsurance through a network of more than 170 subsidiaries, branches and representative offices spread across all five continents and a total staff of more than 3,000. The group's German property and casualty business is written through its subsidiary E+S Ruck.
