Bankinter, S.A. is a Spanish financial services company headquartered in Madrid. It was founded in June 1965 as Banco Intercontinental Espanol through a partnership between Banco de Santander and BankAmerica, and has been listed on the Bolsa de Madrid since 1972 as a constituent of the IBEX 35 index. The bank operates in retail and commercial banking and was designated a Significant Institution under European Banking Supervision in 2014, employing about 6,078 people across 446 offices as of September 2021.
