Samsung Life Insurance is a South Korean multinational insurance company headquartered near Namdaemun in central Seoul and a subsidiary of Samsung Group, established in 1957. It is the largest insurance company in South Korea and a Fortune Global 500 company, offering life insurance, health insurance and annuities. The company moved from private to public ownership on May 12, 2010 through an initial public offering that raised 4.4 billion dollars, the largest in South Korean history at the time, making it one of the country's most valuable companies by market capitalization.
