Stripe, LLC is an American multinational financial services and software as a service company that provides payment processing services and application programming interfaces for e-commerce businesses. It was founded in 2010 by Irish brothers John and Patrick Collison in Palo Alto, California, with Patrick serving as chief executive and John as president, and it maintains dual headquarters in South San Francisco, California and Dublin, Ireland. Beyond core payment processing, Stripe offers Stripe Connect for multiparty payments, Radar for fraud prevention, billing and invoicing tools, the Terminal point of sale service, tax compliance automation, card issuing, Financial Connections for bank account verification, and Link for storing payment details. As of 2026 Stripe is valued at approximately 159 billion dollars, making it the largest privately held financial technology company, and in 2025 it processed more than 1.9 trillion dollars in payment volume for roughly 5 million businesses.
