Oikocredit is a cooperative society that provides loans and investment capital to microfinance institutions, cooperatives and small and medium sized enterprises in developing countries. Founded in the Netherlands in 1975 out of ideas raised at a 1968 World Council of Churches gathering, it is one of the world's largest private financiers of microfinance.
