Santos Limited

Santos Limited is an Australian oil and gas company headquartered in Adelaide, one of the largest domestic gas producers in Australia. It was founded in 1954 under the name South Australia Northern Territory Oil Search, an acronym that gave the company its lasting Santos name, formed to explore for oil and gas in the Cooper Basin straddling South Australia and Queensland. Santos developed the Cooper Basin into a major onshore gas province supplying eastern Australian markets, later expanded into liquefied natural gas export through the Gladstone LNG project in Queensland, and has continued to develop offshore and onshore gas projects including the Barossa field in the Timor Sea, supplying both domestic and export gas markets.
