QatarEnergy is a Qatari state-owned petroleum and natural gas company headquartered in Doha, wholly owned by the State of Qatar. It was established in 1974 as Qatar General Petroleum Corporation and took its current name in 2021 as part of a broader rebranding. QatarEnergy controls Qatar's vast North Field natural gas reservoir, the world's largest single non-associated natural gas field, shared with Iran's adjoining South Pars field, and has made Qatar one of the world's largest exporters of liquefied natural gas. The company also holds domestic oil production and refining assets and international upstream interests through joint ventures with major foreign energy companies.
