Tatneft is a Russian vertically integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Almetyevsk in the Republic of Tatarstan, established in April 1950 under Soviet era decree by uniting several drilling and derrick maintenance crews operating in Tatarstan. Organized today as a public joint stock company active in exploration, production, refining and petrochemicals, with banking activities carried out through subsidiaries, it ranked as the fifth largest oil company in Russia and among the country's eighth largest listed companies by market capitalization at the end of 2019, and Forbes ranked it 539th among public companies worldwide in 2020.
