OMV Aktiengesellschaft

OMV Aktiengesellschaft is an Austrian integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Vienna, the largest listed industrial company in Austria. It was founded in 1956 as Osterreichische Mineralolverwaltung, a state-owned company established to develop Austria's domestic oil industry in the aftermath of the Second World War, before shortening its name to OMV as it grew and partially privatized in later decades. OMV explores for and produces oil and natural gas across Austria, Romania and other regions, operates refineries and a network of fuel retail stations across Central Europe, and holds a substantial stake in the polyolefins producer Borealis, giving the company a significant petrochemicals business alongside its traditional upstream and refining operations.
