KazMunayGas, abbreviated KMG, is the state owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, headquartered in Astana. It was established by a presidential decree dated 20 February 2002 that merged two predecessor organizations, CJSC Kazakhoil and CJSC Oil&Gas Transportation, into a single national energy entity focused on oil and natural gas production.
