Alpha Metallurgical Resources, Inc., formerly known as Contura Energy, is an American coal supplier with underground and surface mining complexes across Northern and Central Appalachia. The company owns coal basins in Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia that supply both metallurgical coal used to produce steel and thermal coal used to generate power, making it one of the leading Appalachian coal producers.
