Baker Chocolate Company

The Baker Chocolate Company, also known through its Baker's Chocolate brand, was an American chocolate manufacturer headquartered in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, and is described as the first company to produce chocolate in the United States. It traces its origins to 1780, when James Baker took over a chocolate-making operation he had financed for John Hannon. The company changed hands several times, acquired by the Forbes Syndicate in 1896, by Postum Cereal in 1927 (which became General Foods in 1929), and ultimately incorporated into Kraft Foods in 1995, with the Baker's Chocolate brand now owned by Kraft Heinz.
