Haffen Brewing Company began as the Haffen Brewery, later known as J and M Haffen Brewing Company, and was incorporated under the Haffen Brewing Company name in 1900. It operated in the Bronx, New York from 1856 until 1917, owned by Matthias Haffen, who emigrated to the United States from Bavaria in 1831. Its brewery was a landmark on old Melrose Avenue between 151st and 152nd Streets.
