Pivovar Krakonos is one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic, founded in 1582 in the town of Trutnov, where its annual production of light and dark beers exceeds one hundred thousand hectoliters. Future Czech president Vaclav Havel worked at the brewery in 1974, an experience that inspired his theater play Audience, set inside a brewery.
