Tempo Beer Industries is Israel's largest brewer and second-largest beverage company, founded in 1952 and based in Netanya. It produces the Goldstar, Maccabee and Nesher Malt beer brands, bottles PepsiCo soft drinks for Israel, has imported Heineken since 1992 and distributed Samuel Adams since 2005, and went public on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in 1982; in 2004 it acquired a 39 percent controlling stake in Barkan Wine Cellars, Israel's second-largest winery.
