Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus is a brewery owned by the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, tracing its origin to 1791, when monks of the Benedictine monastery of St. Blasien began brewing under Prince-Abbot Martin Gerbert. Located at the edge of Grafenhausen in the southern Black Forest, it has operated as a state-owned stock corporation since 1922 and is known nationally for its flagship pilsner Tannenzapfle, sold in distinctive 33-centiliter bottles.
