Papa John's is an American pizza restaurant chain specializing in delivery and carryout, founded by John Schnatter in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1984 and taken public in 1993, after which it expanded to about 1,500 restaurants by 1997. The chain now operates more than 5,500 locations across 49 countries and territories and ranks as the fourth largest pizza delivery chain in the United States, with headquarters functions split between Jeffersontown, Kentucky and a newer global headquarters at The Battery Atlanta established in 2020.
