REO Motor Car Company

The REO Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles, trucks and buses headquartered in Lansing, Michigan, operating from 1905 to 1975. It was founded by Ransom E. Olds, who had earlier founded Oldsmobile in 1897 and left that company to start REO, naming it after his own initials once his former company blocked him from using his full name. REO's vehicle manufacturing business merged with Diamond T in 1967 to form Diamond Reo Trucks, while the remaining corporate entity was eventually transformed into the steel company that became Nucor.
