Pars Khodro is an Iranian car maker whose roots lie in assembling foreign designs under licence. Its first cars, the Aria and the Shahin, were based on the 1966 Rambler American and launched in 1967, and it also built Jeep models. In June 1972 it formed General Motors Iran Ltd with GM, which built the Opel Commodore from 1974 with Chevrolet Royale badging and later Buick, Cadillac Seville and Chevrolet Nova models, until the Iranian Revolution forced the links with GM to end. It then built the Nissan Patrol.
