VDL Nedcar

VDL Nedcar was the large contract vehicle factory at Born in the Dutch province of Limburg. It began as a DAF car plant in 1968, passed through Volvo and a Mitsubishi joint venture, and later belonged to the VDL Groep, building Mini cars and the BMW X1 for the BMW Group. It closed in March 2024 when BMW did not renew the contract. The works had once been the largest car factory in the country, with a capacity of 240,000 vehicles a year, and it also assembled Mitsubishi and Volvo cars during earlier decades.
