Rover Group

Consumer Discretionary

The Rover Group was the name given to the former British Leyland in 1986, when the state owned car maker was slimmed down and prepared for sale. It owned the Austin, Rover, MG and Mini car brands together with Land Rover and the Freight Rover vans, and it held the dormant names of makes such as Triumph, Morris, Wolseley and Riley. British Aerospace bought it in 1988, Honda held a minority stake, and BMW took over in 1994 before breaking the group up in 2000.
