Ligier

Consumer Discretionary

Ligier is a French automobile and minibus maker created by the former racing driver and rugby player Guy Ligier, who lived from 1930 to 2015, and it specializes in microcars. Its early road cars carried the JS prefix in honour of Jo Schlesser, killed in the 1968 French Grand Prix, beginning with the mid-engined JS2 powered first by a Ford V6 and then by the Maserati V6 used in the Citroen SM. After the 1973 energy crisis the firm turned to microcars from 1980. It is also best known for its Formula One team, which raced from 1976 to 1996 and won its first Grand Prix with Jacques Laffite in 1977. In 2008 it acquired the Microcar division of the Beneteau Group, and in 2023 it launched its first electric quadricycle, the Myli. Production was concentrated at the Abrest plant in 2025.
