Lancia Automobiles S.p.A. is an Italian car maker and a subsidiary of Stellantis Europe. Its history runs back to Lancia & C. Fabbrica Automobili, founded in Turin on 27 November 1906 by the racing drivers Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin, and the company became part of Fiat in 1969. It is known for engineering firsts, among them the unibody chassis of the 1922 Lambda, the five-speed gearbox of the 1948 Ardea and the first full-production V6 engine in the 1950 Aurelia, and for rallying, where it still holds more World Rally Championship manufacturers titles than any other brand. Sales fell from over 300,000 cars a year in 1990 to under 100,000 by 2010, and after 2015 its only product was the Ypsilon, sold almost entirely in Italy until the Stellantis relaunch.
