Fisher and Ludlow built complete finished and trimmed car bodies in a high volume operation at Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, England, and sent them by road to the vehicle manufacturer to be fitted with the mechanical parts. The British Motor Corporation acquired it in 1953. After the merger of that corporation with the Pressed Steel Company in 1966 and the formation of British Leyland in 1968, its business was combined with Pressed Steel to form Pressed Steel Fisher.
