DaimlerChrysler was the company that Daimler-Benz and the Chrysler Corporation formed in 1998 when they merged by an exchange of shares. It was headquartered in Stuttgart and for nine years owned the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep and Eagle car lines alongside Mercedes-Benz. It gave up the Chrysler side to a private equity buyer in 2007 and took the plain name Daimler again, which is the same legal company that is now called Mercedes-Benz Group.
