British Motor Corporation

Consumer Discretionary

The British Motor Corporation, known as BMC, was created in 1952 when Austin and Morris, the two biggest British car makers, agreed to merge. It held brands such as Austin, Morris, MG, Riley, Wolseley and Austin-Healey, and in its day it made close to forty percent of British car output. It took over Pressed Steel and Jaguar in the mid 1960s, changed its name to British Motor Holdings in 1966 and was merged into British Leyland in 1968.
