Mazda Motor Corporation

Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in Fuchu, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. It traces its origins to 1920 as a cork manufacturer, Toyo Cork Kogyo, which moved into machinery and then three-wheeled trucks before producing its first passenger car in 1960; the company took the Mazda name, a westernized rendering of founder Jujiro Matsuda's surname that the company has also long associated with Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian god of wisdom and light. Mazda is particularly known for its long commitment to the Wankel rotary engine, used in sports cars such as the RX-7 and RX-8, and for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, widely recognized as the best selling two-seat convertible sports car in history.
