DDI Corporation

DDI Corporation was a Japanese long distance telecommunications company established on June 1, 1984 by Kazuo Inamori, the founder of Kyocera, to challenge the monopoly of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in Japans long distance telecommunications market. It grew into one of the most successful of the companies formed to compete with NTT. In 2000 DDI Corporation merged with KDD Corporation, Japans former state monopoly international telecommunications provider, and IDO Corporation, a mobile network operator, to form KDDI Corporation.
