The New Humanitarian is an independent, non-profit news agency headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, that reports on humanitarian crises in regions it considers overlooked or under-reported. It began in 1995 as IRIN, a project of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs launched in Nairobi after the Great Lakes refugee crisis, became an independent non-profit in 2015, and adopted its current name in 2019.
